Athletic wear, judged by what it does#

Active Aesthetic is about the clothes you train in. What a garment is made of, how it behaves once you are sweating in it, whether it still fits the way you move, and whether it is still worth wearing after a season of washing.

We do not review things we have not handled, and we do not repeat a manufacturer’s claim as though it were a result. What we can check, we check: the fibre content on the label, the care instructions attached to the garment, the way a seam is sewn, the construction of a waistband, and any specification a maker publishes. Where something is a rule of thumb rather than a measurement, we say so.

If you are starting from nothing, the guides below are the ones we would read first.

How we judge gear#

Every article on this site is written from the same starting points: published fabric specifications, care labelling, and construction you can see in a shop or on a product page. Longevity claims that cannot be checked get reported as claims, not as facts. Our About page sets out the method in full, along with how the site is funded and how to send a correction.
